This training resource explores the Support Worker's role in supporting safe and enjoyable mealtimes. Mealtimes are an essential part of life. This eLearning is all about making it safe, hygienic and enjoyable – especially for those with swallowing difficulties (dysphagia).

Why take this course?

Mealtimes often provide people with a space for relaxation, socialising and celebrating – it’s a way to bring people together. Yet for people with swallowing difficulties (also known as dysphagia), it’s important they’re in an environment where they feel supported and safe.

Enter the Support Worker’s role. As a Support Worker, you should be able to recognise the signs and symptoms of swallowing difficulties and the steps to take to appropriately support a diverse range of people.

In 45 minutes, we’ll dive into the crucial role of supporting people at mealtimes and the importance of environment, equipment, positioning and communication. We'll also cover texture modified foods and fluids and how to make modified meals interesting.

The result? More safe and enjoyable meals for everyone.
