Why take this course?
Supported Independent Living (SIL) can be life-changing for many. But only if – and it’s a big if – it’s done correctly. Thing is, participants often look to you (the support people in their life, like family and Support Coordinators) to know what’s required in terms of information and paperwork and to get the best chance of success. And not being armed with the right info can mean they end up in inappropriate accommodation (read: not good).
This informative 2 hour training will cover a vital checklist of steps to consider before a participant moves into a Supported Independent Living environment – including paperwork and environmental considerations. You’ll feel more confident in the process and be able to support participants to make informed decisions about how they live.
What you’ll gain
