Isn’t the year rushing by? It already is October – Safety Month again.

Safety Month is an initiative from Safe Work Australia and the WorkSafe/SafeWork agencies across the country, to promote safe and healthy workplaces.

This year’s theme is ‘Health and safety is everybody’s business’.

If Safety Month is just one more thing on your already full plate, we have done some of the leg work for you and gathered together some resources you can use to promote a safe workplace. We're also giving you 1 month of free access to our on-Demand Safety Tools resource (see end of the article for more details).

We’ve collected the jurisdiction specific resources, and resources for areas where there are high levels of incidents reported in our sector.

Safe Work Australia is a great place to start. At National Safe Work Month 2024 | Safe Work Australia, they have loads of resources such as customisable posters, computer backgrounds, email signatures, talking points for afternoon teas and meetings, even some tips for newsletters.

State and Territory Safety Month resources

For Australian Capital Territory’s go to Campaign Kit - WorkSafe ACT

For Queensland go to 2024 Safe Work Month comms kit. They also have safety advocates who can speak at your workplace Safety Advocates | WorkSafe.qld.gov.au

For South Australia go to National SafeWork Month | SafeWork SA

For Tasmania go to WorkSafe Month

For Western Australia go to Safe Work Month 2024 - Campaign kit | Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.

All state and territory safety agencies also have a variety of safety resources which may be used as part of your safety month program.

The great thing is that as the information is general in nature, you can grab whatever suits from any of the state or territories website.

To help, we’re giving you 1 month free access to our On-Demand resource Safety Tools. Aimed at safety officers and managers, these tools are a great place to start when developing your tailored approach to identifying safety hazards and reducing workplace incidents. The templates and register can be used when developing or updating safety documents. They are editable to suit your needs. Use the code:  SAFETYTOOLS valid until 10th November.
