Safely support people using urinary catheters or external drainage devices, while also upholding their privacy and dignity.

Why take this course?

Urinary catheter support is considered a higher risk support under the NDIS. And for good reason, it requires an understanding of how the urinary system works, why we eliminate urine and the care that’s necessary when this process doesn’t happen naturally.

This 50 minute eLearning gives practical, real-world guidance on how to assist people with a urinary catheter or external drainage device in a way that’s safe, respectful and within your scope of practice.

This online course has been created with expert training content from Premium Health and forms part of our series of 7 High Intensity Daily Personal Activities eLearning modules.

Pathway to Competency

The NDIS Commission’s High Intensity Skills Descriptors require that these supports are delivered by a competent worker. Learners can build on the theoretical foundations of this module by completing a skills competency assessment with Premium Health to meet this requirement. Competency assessments are:

  • delivered by qualified health professionals, as required by the NDIS Commission

  • available Australia wide, both online and face-to-face.

  • inclusive of a statement of competency for audit evidence and peace of mind

  • discounted DSC learners at $99 per person, with further group discounts available.
