Understand how to assist people with swallowing difficulties, including safe food textures, mealtime plans and responding to choking or aspiration.
Why take this course?
Food is something we all have in common. But for people with dysphagia, mealtime can come with additional risks. As a support worker you need to have the knowledge and skills to support participants safely including understanding how to identify and respond to early signs and symptoms of dysphagia and how to support people to have safe and enjoyable meals.This eLearning gives you the knowledge on how to assist people living with dysphagia. We’ll explore things like safe ingestion of food and drink, texture-modified diets and the appropriate action if a person is choking.
This online course has been created with expert training content from Premium Health and forms part of our series of 7 High Intensity Daily Personal Activities eLearning modules.

Pathway to Competency
The NDIS Commission’s High Intensity Skills Descriptors require that these supports are delivered by a competent worker. Learners can build on the theoretical foundations of this module by completing a skills competency assessment with Premium Health to meet this requirement. Competency assessments are:
delivered by qualified health professionals, as required by the NDIS Commission
available Australia wide, both online and face-to-face.
inclusive of a statement of competency for audit evidence and peace of mind
discounted DSC learners at $99 per person, with further group discounts available.
